About DFSR in Heppenheim
Superbly located in the heart of Germany DFSR is the ideal place to learn the language which opens so many doors. The ´Bergstrasse´ area is so named for the gently sloping line of hills which runs through it, separating the Odenwald forest in the East and the vast open plateaus in the West. Heppenheim itself is a charming market town, full of twisting alleyways, halftimbered houses and cobbled streets. From the school you have views of the vineyards, the 900 year old Starkenburg Castle and the cathedral.
DFSR believes in contributing to international understanding by encouraging integration into the local community. Our facility is in a beautiful halftimbered house in the part of old town. You will be staying within walking distance of all facilities and public transport. We organise contact with the community by inviting people from the town into our British pub and restaurant ´Scotland Yard´ for cultural events and assisting our students to participate in outside activities.
What we offer / The Courses
DFSR welcomes participants between 14-18 years. Students take a German test on their first day at school and will then be placed in a class with other pupils of the same level. General courses are 25 hours a week for groups of up to 12 participants. The average group size is 6-8. Individual and mini-group (2-4 participants) classes can be arranged. One lesson has 45 minutes.
Teachers are chosen for their lively personality and ability to motivate and encourage. Classroom topics are up-to-date and relevant to the students. Classroom work covers the 4 main areas of language learning; reading, writing, speaking and listening.
We attach particular importance to verbal communication and promote this by guiding students through role-plays and active discussions. The progress will be rapid as students will be totally immersed in German all day, whether having lunch with our staff, taking part in a sporting activity, working on a project with fellow students or going on a trip.
